If you are local to Charlotte, the references to landmarks are great - although they won't keep you from enjoying the story if you are "not from around here." Although the characters are full of witty banter and comic relief - the action and violence can sometimes be cringeworthy in a good way - there is violence as you would expect from a book of this kind.
