A critical reappraisal of James Baldwin's work, looking beyond the commercial success of some of his early writings such as Go Tell it on the Mountain. It reveals an author who continually challenged the notion of unity as he tackled matters of social justice, sexuality, and racial identity. On the surface it appears to be about a spaceship crew exploring an abandoned alien vessel, but under the surface hints at a darker story. In his criticism, Mauss is pretty even-handed, giving praise and credit to even those editors that nearly brought about the collapse of the journal. In one review of this book, a reader stated that he was frustrated with the lack of personal, family details in this book (mention of children, siblings, etc.) It is interesting that one of the reviews of this book above is by Mauss’s son. I was pleasantly surprised at the perfect condition of this second hand book. Praise from the parent, developing child's concentration and setting fun tasks that can be accomplished are some of advises on rearing children. The book gives a very good introduction to the topic, starting from the basics of EEG (sEEG and iEEG) epilepsy and signal processing, gradually working towards the topics of seizure detection and prediction. It is very well written by relevant experts and well edited.Very good book for everyone interested in a state-of-art overview of the topic.. My boys, 6 and 4, spent their summer referring to the pages of this book for all the many bugs, insects, spiders, and other little creatures they came across. Tony Kushner, Angels in America: Peres"In this much-needed collection we finally find a serious consideration of this late, angry, and still articulate James Baldwin, who understands that the fire is smoldering under the brush of complacency." -David Adams Leeming, from the ForewordD.
