Not only my students but also I learned a lot of new ideas and great examples to drive home many important concepts. I only opened it up a handful of times, really, and it stayed on my desk all semester (never took it out of my dorm, never put it in my backpack), and STILL, it looked worse for wear by the end of the school year. Hornung's introduction discusses the most important of these symbolic meanings. That's the strength of the author's writing and the story she tellsIt's very difficult to distance oneself as the reader from what is being read. I have the Pro Roller Stretching book as well and bothare excellent, easy to use and the photos are clear andconcise. Some of Whitaker's analogies are mysterious to me;I don't get the connection. The illustration problems disappoint me and if I had known what they would look like I'm not sure I would have preordered it. But as the author allowed me to get to know Daisy, I realized there is such a complexity of feelings one must confront and move through, that, for some time, the heart-wrenching diagnosis almost stops one in his or her tracks.
