I had seen an older version of this book and purchased my own because I liked the images (for use with metal etching). a more precise cause and effect relationship between the texts she examines but in fairness it is not her intention to establish such relationships. The book contains excellent-and many times full size- photographs of both geometric and figurative goldweights, with explanations of what the reader is seeing.A minor problem is many figurative goldweights represent 'old African proverbs'; in most cases these are not included. I felt regret as a read this book that in the small LDS Community of Pullman, Washington, I don’t remember ever making Mauss&I have enormously enjoyed reading this important book. It is written not only with understandable personal passion, but with insight and balanced perspective. I will strongly recommend it to many of my own Clinic Clients who struggle with these afflictions. .
